I am who you say I am

Sometimes it’s hard to see what God sees in us, specifically in hard times. Sometimes, if we are not able to finish or accomplish a goal or task, we feel like failures, allowing our accomplishments to dictate our value. The title of our sermon this past Sunday was: If Jesus is the word, then I am who He says I am. That is a different narrative that many of us need to believe, live in, and share with others.

The song “who you say I am” speaks about the value we find and have in Jesus. Verse one and two are a clear message about His love and how far Jesus went for us. My favorite part of this song is the bridge because it reminds us of who we are in Jesus, and the value that we have in him.

The bridge says: I am chosen, not forsaken, I am who you say I am, you are for me, not against me, I am who you say I am. Doesn’t that sound just like Jesus? I can imagine Jesus telling me those words every single day, reminding me that I am not alone, that there are people praying for me, that He (Jesus) gets to decide my value. Wow, that’s wonderful news!

We do not need to be a better version of ourselves, we need to allow Jesus to make us new creation every day. Maybe you know someone that really needs to hear or read this or even watch Sunday’s sermon (which we have on youtube or Facebook). God wants you to be part of his family. You are not alone. Let us pray for you and with you.
