Missions

Jesus said in The Great Commission in Matthew 28:19, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the the Holy Spirit." At Houston First Church we strive to make this a reality in the life of the church body. There are many opportunities to give of yourself physically, spiritually, and lets not forget financially. Click on the missions ministry below that you would like to know more about.

Change that will Change Cambalache

Houston First Church has taken on the responsibility of being a mother church to the Church of God in Cambalache, Venezuela. The word Cambalache literally means "the dump". These people survive by digging through the dump for any scraps of food or any scraps of metal that they might be able to sell. Through this missions project our church body is given the opportunity to provide much needed financial support to the starving people of Cambalache. Every third Sunday during our morning worship, we provide a time for anyone who would like to empty their pockets of change (folding money is great too) to help give a better life to these people. The money goes to the Church of God in Cambalache so that they can feed the people who come to their worship services.

Food Pantry

Our food pantry is always in need of more non-perishable food items that we can give to the poor and needy. The items that we need the most at this time are:
  • Macaroni & Cheese
  • Tuna
  • Peanut Butter
  • Jelly
  • Crackers

This is a wonderful opportunity to give back a little that the Lord has blessed us with. Bring your non-perishable food items to the church to help keep the food pantry well stocked.

Faith Promise

Every year Houston First Church participates in the ministry of Faith Promise which traditionally means, "A covenant with God to give that amount which He supplies from some unanticipated source in honor of faith!" These unanticipated sources could be a bonus, an unexpected pay raise, an inheritance, a rebate, savings from using coupons, etc. These dollars are used for missions! Every year the Houston First Church Missions committee prayerfully and carefully select proven ministries that we will support with Faith Promise dollars for the following year.
