The Love of Christ

Dear Church,

Ephesians 3:16-19 says:

“that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with might, through His Spirit in the inner man, that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height, to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.”

Paul’s prayer for the church in Ephesus was that they would be rooted and grounded in the love of Christ, which is the foundation for everything else.  Our drive, our motivation for wanting to please Christ should come from our knowledge and understanding of His own love towards us.

My prayer for our church, is that we would be able to comprehend the love of Christ.  That we would understand how deep God’s love is for his children, that same ‘love’ sent His Son to the cross.  When we truly understand his love for us, we are then able to be filled with the fullness of God.  Peter denied Jesus three times, yet Jesus still eagerly pursued Peter.  Remember saints, we love Jesus because he first loved us!  God did not force us to surrender our lives to Him, we willingly chose to embrace Him, through repentance and belief in our Lord and Savior, and by doing this we opened up the door for Him to love on us.
