Love=Action

Dear Church,

Have you ever seen someone in need of help, and instead of helping them you gave them a word of encouragement? Maybe they needed a ride home, some money for food, or were injured or sick; and instead of helping them you told them ‘good luck’ or ‘be blessed’.  Have you ever been in a situation (in need of help and assistance) and people responded to you the same way by simply giving you a word encouragement? How did that make you feel?

Although we need encouraging words when we are feeling down and depressed, we also need people to help us in our time of need.  We need people to give us food when we are hungry, clothes when we are in need, shelter when we don’t have a place to stay; we need people to show us they love us by their actions, not just by their words.

1 John 3:18 “Dear Children, let’s not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions.”
