Change July 16

I just returned to the office from a meeting with Dr. Marz, the principal and head of school at Bane Elementary. We were discussing the upcoming school year, and ways that HFC can partner with them to help make the campus a positive place to learn and thrive. It was a wonderful meeting! I am pumped up for the first day of school. I am counting down the days like a first-time kindergarten student. The excitement is real! Let me assure you that no matter your age or stage of life, there are roles in which you can impact Bane Elementary for the kingdom! More on that later…

In our meeting, Dr. Marz gave me the book the staff will be going through this year; it is the theme they will build on for all they do in the next 9 months. The title is “The Shark and the Goldfish: Positive Ways to Thrive During Waves of Change.” There has been a lot of changes since school let out in May; new staff, new students, new perspectives, new challenges. Change.

What I want to share with you is a secret. Are you ready? Here it is. HFC can be disciples who make disciples at Bane! You might be asking, ‘Wait, what? How can we bring God into a public school?’ Well, the answer is simple: He is already there. God is doing some amazing things at Bane. He has given us partners inside the school who share our faith and our desire to see God do mighty things at Bane! He is opening doors WIDE for our congregation to love on and serve this community. Want to know another secret? It’s NOT so secret! The community is seeing the way ‘things happen’ and the ‘blessings that come just at the right time’; the way things are changing. Church, we have a huge opportunity to put into practice what we have been learning about disciples making disciples. Won’t you join us? Won’t you help us love on this community so much that they cannot help but see Jesus? Won’t you help us help them change? I cannot wait to see all God does at Bane through HFC in the 2019-2020 school year.

Many Blessings,
Pastor Sarah
