You Are Special

Psalm 139:13-15 (NLT)

Vs. 13 You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb.

Vs. 14 Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex!  Your workmanship is marvelous how well I know it.

Vs. 15 You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.

God was involved in the entire process of your development in your mother’s womb. He made all the delicate inner parts in your body and knit you together (according to vs. 13).  Imagine a grandmother knitting a sweater, that’s how God knitted you together when you were in your mother’s uterus.

God knew you when you were a Zygote.  Does anyone know what a Zygote is?  A Zygote is formed when a sperm and an egg combine into a single cell, with 46 chromosomes (23 from your biological mom and 23 from your biological dad), these chromosomes determined your sex, eye color, even your personality and level of intelligence.  God had already predetermined what your gender would be, what your race would be, your eye color, hair color (even your intellect), and according to vs. 14, we were made to be wonderfully complex!

Just look at the human body with all of its complexities (organs, veins, arteries, bones and systems), but we also can’t forget our personalities, which we can’t see with the naked eye.

In vs. 15 of Psalm 139 it says, “You watched me as I was formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb.”  King David wrote this Psalm, and keep in mind King David was born around 1040 BC (which was over 3000 years ago), and I can guarantee you that they didn’t have a clue of what was going on in the mother’s womb; there was no ultrasound. So here we see David saying I don’t know what goes on in the dark womb where I was formed, but you do and you were in charge of the entire process.

There is only one of you, you were uniquely made, and are very special in the eyes of God!  Always, Always, Always, Always, Always remember that!  It doesn’t matter if you aren’t the smartest, most athletic, outgoing, or look a certain way, God made you who you are for a reason.  You are precious in His eyes!  Why?  Because you were fearfully and wonderfully made!
